The Choral Arts Chorus and the Washington Performing Arts Gospel Choirs raise joyful voices in performing the powerful music that has given voice to the voiceless for generations in this 29th annual choral tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The collaboration of styles, music, ages, and cultures provides a powerful and moving performance.
During this performance Dr. Ysaye M. Barnwell (Sweet Honey in the Rock) will present the 2017 Choral Arts Humanitarian Award to Ruby Bridges, the first African-American student to attend William Frantz Public School in New Orleans. Today, Ruby is chair of the Ruby Bridges Foundation, which promotes “the values of tolerance, respect, and appreciation of all differences.”
