Duruflé Requiem

2:00 – 4:30 PM

Satterlee Hall, St. Alban’s Church

This year, our beloved Community Sing takes on an exciting new dimension. Rather than a traditional sing-through of Duruflé’s Requiem, we are pairing the joy of communal music-making with a dynamic educational experience for emerging conductors.

Under the guidance of distinguished clinician Dr. Beth Willer (Peabody Institute) and our own Artistic Director, Dr. Marie Bucoy-Calavan, the afternoon will unfold as a public conducting masterclass. In place of the usual rehearsal, selected conductors will step to the podium to lead our community ensemble, receiving real-time feedback in an engaging, interactive setting.

We are especially proud to feature conductors from within the Choral Arts Society of Washington:

  • Shannon Arnold
  • John Lazzeroni
  • My-Van Nguyen
  • Marcelo Santa Cruz
  • Han Wagner

Come support your fellow singers as they take on the role of conductor, while we sing through Duruflé’s Requiem in preparation for our upcoming Carnegie Hall performance.

All are welcome—invite your friends to sing with us and be part of an afternoon that blends learning, artistry, and community, as we continue our commitment to nurturing the next generation of choral leaders.

Space in Satterlee Hall is limited, so please register in advance to ensure your spot. Bring your own score or rent one through the registration page.
