Co-Presented with Washington Performing Arts

The musical celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a joyful gathering to honor Dr. King and today’s leaders who work tirelessly for social justice. More than just a concert, it transcends race, age, and gender to unite all who honor his ideals.

The celebration includes an annual concert co-presented with Washington Performing Arts, the Choral Arts Humanitarian Award presentation, a program specifically adapted for students, and topical curriculum for teachers.

LaTosha Brown 2022 Choral Arts Humanitarian Award Recipient

Choral Arts will present the 2022 Humanitarian Award to award-winning visionary and cultural activist, LaTosha Brown. The award honors individuals who have shown incredible leadership through their dedication to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Brown is a nationally recognized, “go-to” expert in Black Voting Rights and Voter Suppression, Black Women’s Empowerment, and Philanthropy. She is the Co-Founder of Black Voters Matter Fund and Black Voters Matter Capacity Building Institute and has worked in 23 different countries to include Kenya, Guyana, and Brazil. Her next mission involves resourcing and empowering women across the diaspora. “I don’t want women to be seen as victims; they are the problem solvers for the world. I am convinced that Black Women are going to liberate the world!” says Brown. The award will be presented at Living the Dream…Singing the Dream on April 10, 2022, hosted by NBC4 News Anchor Shawn Yancy
